Why Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Was Absent At The 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival 2011
After endless speculations made by the French media regarding the absence of France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival 2011, the delightful news is finally out in the open. Yes! The former supermodel and songstress IS expecting, maybe twins with Nicholas Sarkozy, the French president. The former super model was supposed to appear at the premier of Woody Allen’s film ‘Midnight in Paris’ starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.
Although, Carla Bruni had excused her absence during a RTL radio interview, saying “I really regret it” but “I unfortunately can’t do it for personal and also for professional reasons”, yet her loose clothes and puffier looks say it all.
Earlier, when asked about the rumours, she said in the RTL interview that: “It’s a private question. I have to protect my private life, my family life as much as possible.”
There has been no official statement issued by Elysee Palace on the big news yet. It is expected that the couple will announce the news this week.
Pal Sarkozy, father of President Nicholas Sarkozy recently confirmed the news to Germany’s mass market daily Bild saying, “I’m glad to be having a grandchild. Neither the president nor his wife want to know the sex of the child, but I’m sure it’s a girl who’ll be as beautiful as Carla.”
This pregnancy could prove to be a real booster for Nicolas Sarkozy right before next year’s Presidential election.
Carla Bruni already has a son Aurelien, 10, with the Paris philosopher Raphael Enthoven. Whereas Nicolas Sarkozy has three sons, Pierre, 26, and Jean, 24, from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli, and Louis, 14, with his second wife, Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz.
The couple have been married for three years.
